Did you know that Almaty  comes from the Kazakh name ‘Alma-Ata’, which means ‘father of apples’?   Gulden told me that they say the Almaty region is the birthplace of the first apple on earth. According to a legend, the Garden of Eden was located somewhere in the city and the place where Adam picked the forbidden fruit. How do you like them apples!
